Dr Jockers Comments:

This recipe combines 3 extremely healing ingredients and is low-carb and ketogenic.  This may be one of the best beauty food combinations!  Additionally, it is easy to make and tastes great!

Turmeric is one of the most powerful natural anti-inflammatory agents in the world.  It is best when combined with good fats such as the medium chain fats in coconut milk and a pinch of black pepper.

The grass-fed beef gelatin provides collagen proteins that support healthy discs, ligaments, tendons, skin and hair.  It helps to strengthen our joints and prevent against the development of injuries or help to heal them faster.

The combination of the collagen proteins in the gelatin, the medium chain fats in the coconut milk and the anti-inflammatory and liver cleansing properties of turmeric, these bars will help make you happier and more beautiful!

  1. Going on an all-day outing tomorrow with friends and looking for ketogenic-like snacks to take with. I have all the ingredients so think I’ll make this tonight though I will definitely add the cinnamon and maybe the same amount of ginger powder. I just have not been able to adjust to the taste of turmeric. The closest I’ve come is something I just whipped up this morning for breakfast:

    3/4-1 cup of chicken broth
    2 eggs
1/8 teaspoon each of turmeric, onion and ginger powders
1/16 to 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground pepper

I whisked and stirred pretty constantly while everything heated up; while I was concerned that the texture would be off-putting, I was pleasantly surprised. Liquid enough I could drink it but also solid enough to use a spoon and ‘chew’ if I wanted to. And I didn’t taste the turmeric! I think I’ll continue with these proportions and gradually increase the spices to get more health benefits.

  2. Grateful that your wife takes the time and energy to make this wonderful dishes. I took this recipe added 1 TBS of vanilla per 2 cups, a sprinkle of cinnamon and ginger each. A little extra gelatin-I like them firmer. They are great! Going to try the beefier one I just saw above. Cannot have onions myself-maybe a little onion powder tho-diabetic and steering clear of anything that ups my BS. The tumeric and ginger-I do a TBS/1/2 TSP a day in tea normally to kills this gut inflammation. After 3 months its working for the first time in years-20+ along with the ketogenic diet. My insulin is half of what it was a year ago. Dr Jockers site gives the 1-2-3 steps to heal and wonderful recipes. Now to maybe incorporate this to my chocolate mousse.

      1. Another recipe if you and your wife want to try this-it is delicious:
        Avocado mashed up
Add a TBS or 2 of lime juice and sweetener.
this comes from my diabetic past-20 years ago. It is a Peruvian dessert.

        1. Interesting Holly thanks! I like to make a chocolate pudding out of avocados, coconut milk, and chocolate bone broth protein. Sounds like a similar concept!

  3. I absolutely love love this recipe!! But I am allergic to beef gelatin. Is there something else I can use?
